4 Non-Crypto Warpcast Channels You Should Check Out

$DEGEN logo
Warpcast is one of the best-known and most popular Web3 social networks, and understandably so. Farcaster Frames brings mini apps to social timelines, and $DEGEN allows users to pay creators directly for the content they enjoy, making it the best Twitter alternative I’ve used so far.
However, there is a lot of crypto talk. Don’t get me wrong, I’m the farthest thing from a crypto hater - crypto makes up a large part of this newsletter; I’m in a ton of DAOs; hell, I spent my Memorial Day weekend buying and staking LYX because I’m that big of consumer crypto believer. Web3 has exactly what social space needs right now (I’m elaborating on that in another piece - I promise), but for web3 social to gain the adoption I think it can, it has to appeal to the general public. And the general public doesn’t want to talk about crypto all day, sorry degens.
To show another side of the Warpcast community, I curated a list of channels that focus on topics other than crypto. These channels are interesting active communities that are low on spam, random AI art, and promo. Send this to your friend who’s on the fence about web3 or that friend who used Warpcast for a week and gave up. Or, if you are that friend, I hope this list motivates you to log back on.
Soundscapes
Soundscapes is the unofficial headquarters for “the music snobs of [Farcaster],” where you can post music that makes you feel something. Posts are often paired with thoughtful musings on the song, album, or mix they are sharing, but that’s totally optional. Just keep it curated and you’re good.
You’d Like This Channel If: You’re tired of the Spotify algorithm playing the same songs over and over.
Cassette Futurism
Nostalgic for retro tech? Then Cassette Futurism is the channel for you. This channel is overflowing with aesthetic pictures of vinyl players, Walkmans, and clunky PCs. This design-forward channel is not limited to technology alone but all kinds of cultural artifacts.
You’d Like This Channel If: Drive is your favorite movie.
Words
Words are where the writers of Farcaster hang out. Members frequently post their newsletters, blog posts, and random thoughts to the channel. The community is known for its regular writing prompts, supportive culture, and constructive feedback.
You’d Like This Channel If: You need some inspiration to move past your writer’s block.
Food
We all have that one friend who posts everything they eat. In Food, everyone is that friend. Food is a community where you can post what you’re cooking (and eating). It’s an endless feed of beautifully shot, delicious-looking food that’ll keep your mouth watering.
You’d Like This Channel If: You believe that Instagram eats first.

Uniswap responded to the Wells Notice. The decentralized exchange dismisses the SEC’s legal theories as “weak” and defends Uniswap as a “major innovation”. Read the summary here.
Everyone who has been personally victimized by Ticketmaster, please stand up. The DOJ is slapping LiveNation with a big fat anti-trust lawsuit, accusing the platform of using its market power to stifle competition. Honestly, it’s about time.
A new bill in CA is ruffling some feathers in Big Tech. The bill is taxing tech companies’ ad revenue to fund newsrooms in the state. Meta and Google are threatening to pull news from their platforms if the bill passes.
